What We Bury, We Become

We were never taught to look at the dark. Only to fear it, hide from it, or medicate it away.
But what if I told you that the part of you you’re scared of…
The one that lashes out
The one that breaks down
The one that won’t let go of grief or rage or shame
Is actually trying to help you?
That part of you that you keep buried under “I’m fine”
Has been screaming for your attention
Not to ruin your life
But to return you to it.
We all have shadows.
The things we pushed down.
The stuff we weren’t allowed to feel.
The masks we learned to wear so we’d still be loved.
But the truth is —
What we bury, we become.
We become resentful because we never spoke up.
We become anxious because we were never safe.
We become numb because it hurt too much to feel.
And if you’re reading this — you’re ready to stop doing that.
You don’t need another plaster.
You don’t need another five-step spiritual fix.
You need to sit with the bit of you that no one else wanted —
and learn how to want it back.
This is shadow work.
And no, it’s not trendy.
It’s not cute.
It’s not all full moons and mantras.
It’s fucking brave.
Because you’re going to look at the parts of you
that were told they were unworthy —
and give them a voice again.
This isn’t about fixing.
It’s about remembering.
You are not broken.
You’re just carrying things you were never allowed to name.
